I now see that I have been viewing life through much too narrow a lens. Witness the healing spirit lights zooming into the woman behind my Brazilian friend. I took this with a disposable camera from the flea market. And, what can I say about the photo of the powerful light appearing on the photo of Medium Joao taken by Karen Leffler as he does his amazing works?!!

John of God, or Medium Joao (his preference), is a full-trance medium who incorporates healing spirits/entities who were healers of body-mind-spirit during their lifetimes and continue to do their work through him in a small Brazilian town at the Casa de Dom Ignacio. He has attracted media attention because of the miraculous body healings (a friend who has lived there for 4 years has seen at least 50 people get out of wheelchairs and walk). The healing is available for absolutely any bodily condition.

Most importantly, when people from all over the world go to the Casa, they feel the comforting presence of God and benevolent entities, and begin to heal their own spirit. Here, truly, “love is the medicine.” This alignment of body-mind-spirit provides the healing that they were seeking, whether the physical condition is/is not shifted.

Myself, I have talked with many during my visits who received all manner of healing. One of my best friends on my last visit was an Australian man who came in a wheelchair with an excruciatingly painful spinal cord injury suffered on a construction site, and went home 4 weeks later, walking. The best part of his story is that he now leads meditation groups and takes pictures in which spirits appear!
